Email Link

What is an email link?

An email link opens an email application to send a message to a specific email address. It opens the email application, and users can send emails easily. Developers use email links on webpages for contact sections or support pages. When a link opens an email application to send a message, it is called an Email Link.

Syntax:

<a href="mailto:example@gmail.com">Send Email</a>

Syntax with Attributes:

<a href="mailto:example@gmail.com" title="Send an Email">Send Email</a>

Here,

  • href: This attribute tells you the email address where you have to send your email, just like a house address tells you where to send a parcel.
  • mailto: Tells the browser to open an email application to compose a message.
  • title: This attribute provides extra information about the link, just like a note gives you more information about something.
  • Send Email: This is the clickable text that you click to open an email application and write an email.

How to Create an Email Link

You can create an email link by following these steps.

  1. First, open the HTML page where you want to add the email link.
  2. Then, use the <a> tag to create the email link.
  3. Next, add mailto: followed by the recipient's email address in the href attribute.
  4. Write the clickable link text between the opening and closing <a> tags. When users click the text, their configured email application opens to compose a message.
  5. You can also use the style attribute to change the link's appearance, such as its color, font size, or background.
